Execution sequence
- Check the exercise name or names, both loads and their repetition targets.
- Complete the heavier segment to the prescribed effort limit.
- After the assigned safe transition, perform the lighter segment, then rest.
Reading a program example
The source example is eight heavier repetitions plus ten lighter repetitions. With two exercise names, each numeric target belongs to the corresponding name. With one name, both load segments belong to that exercise.
Important distinction
The label without load and order instructions is incomplete. Continuing the same exercise after a rapid load reduction can resemble a drop set; the coach’s explanation determines the intended structure.
Check before starting
- Prepare the lighter load without obstructing other users.
- Heavier does not automatically mean the maximum load you can lift.
- Do not turn the lighter segment into unlimited repetitions.
Frequently asked questions
Must the lighter segment reach failure?
Only if the plan explicitly specifies that effort limit.
Are there always two different exercises?
No. The combination can contain two segments of one exercise or two exercises. Read the row’s names and instructions.
